Do you wish to port your number? Here are 10 tips you must know:

1.
Find out about all the providers’ offers and choose the one that suits your best.

2. Carefully read your contract with the current provider, looking for termination clauses or for special interruption provisions.

3. If you use a prepaid card, the remaining credit cannot be transferred.

4. Fill in the standard porting request, which is available either here, or at one of the acceptor provider’s offices.

5. Fill in the porting request carefully. If you do not provide full and accurate details, the system will reject it.

6. Submit the porting request at the provider’s office where you got the form or call the acceptor provider’s Customer Relations Service in view of learning where you may submit the porting request (if you download it from the site).

7. You must submit the standard porting request at the acceptor operator, alongside with a copy of your identity card and a copy of the last invoice issued by the donor provider. If you send another person on your behalf, you need an original proxy.

8. Establish with your provider the date when you wish to port the number – under normal circumstances, 3 working days from the submission date, but no more than 25 working days.

9. The acceptor provider shall contact you to announce you on the exact date and timeframe when the porting is to take place and the date when you need to go to sign the contract, if you did not sign it when you submitted the porting request. The service shall be interrupted for 3 or 4 hours to enable the provider to operate the porting. Meanwhile, you will not be able either to receive nor to make calls. If you wish to port a fixed telephone number, you need to be at home in the timeframe agreed with the provider. If you wish to port a mobile telephone number, you need to go to one of the acceptor provider’s offices in view of taking the new SIM card, with the same telephone number, if it was not handed in to you when you submitted the porting request.

10. Do not send porting requests to more than one provider! Pick one acceptor provider and submit your request only to the respective provider.

If I change the network, do I keep the current “prefix” of my telephone number? When ported, the 10-digit telephone number remains unc...

Therefore, to avoid situations in which the users could unawares pay a different tariff than the one they know, each call to a number that used to be in the origination network of that call, but was subsequently ported, is preceded by a beep sound. This beep sound allows the caller to end the call, find to which network the number has been ported and whether the tariff of a call to that number is different from the known one. Some users are not aware of this sound signal that mak...
